Boston Whaler Classic OEM style navigation bow light used on Classic Boston Whalers from 1958 until approximately 1984 when Perko lights started being used. *THIS IS NOT A PERKO LIGHT* This light drills directly into the bow, not intended for us on any base/riser. Made from high quality, mirror polished true 316 stainless steel, some vendors advertise stainless items as 316, although they are an inferior 304 which costs much less. This item is also equipped with a 12 volt LED (light emitting diode) light source, which is far superior to conventional bulbs. 14 gauge wire is the most common but 16-18 can also be used. Requires a 3 amp fuse when wired separately, 7.5 amp when wiring with stern light. Will fit most models of classic Boston Whalers and other boats with similar dimensions.
The stainless housing has an outside diameter of approximately 2.5"
Distance between 3 bottom screws: 1 1/8"
Height: 1 7/8"
Note: there is a small black gasket on top of the lens that keeps it from spinning. Please be mindful of this when you take apart the light to install on the boat.
Note: To seal water from the base of the light caulking will be required
Note: The 12V LED bulbs use approximately 1.5 - 2 amps. 16-18 gauge wiring can be used but will be larger than necessary, In this instance,, you can simply snip off some strands to reduce the gauge and then use butt connectors.

Light lenses are a little scuffed. But the stainless housing and base are very solid and good quality.

I would include a rubber bow washer for the install for customers ( $1.97) - the 3 screws do not need to pass through the rubber washer , I found a nice water tight washer at a local hardware 1/8 larger than outside diameter of baseplate Very good quality Bow Lite product , I soldered both wires on the install / taped them Tested connections no issues ✔️👍❤️ Install tip: Base plate screws form a triangle and tip of triangle faces the rear motor . next Chrome Bulb cover affixes nicely with 2 Phillips screws ( be sure to install plastic bulb support washer it will come out when you separate base plate ) Respectfully Nice Having a Partner Like Specialty Marine & continued success - to our Boston Whaler Boating Community 💦💦💦😎

Store owner replied: Hi David, We sell this light with the chock plate and riser (BL-1) but I have only seen the riser/rope guide (no chock plate) a handful of times in my 14 years here. Its possible it was a style of Perko light like that or its possible that people simply removed the chock plate on their own and mounted the riser directly to the gunnel.
great!

Great product. I wish it came with a gasket to go between the boat and light housing - but realize that the original didn't have a gasket either. Also, had to silicone the lens in place so that the Red and Green would stay in the correct position. Other than that, and that it was loose in the box (bounced around with no bubble wrap), it's a high quality product and do recommend it. LED is definitely the way to go!

Boston Whaler Classic Bow Light (1958-1984), Navigation Light (Led) 316 Stainless; *Not Perko*
Store owner replied: Hi Daniel, I apologize if this was missing but there should be a small black gasket that sits on top of the lens to keep it from spinning. I can send you a new bottom gasket, lens, and top gasket if you would like. Also, when it is in with the stern light it should be taped to the pole so it likely just pulled off when you removed the stern light from the box. Luckily, there is not enough room while both products are in there for it to bounce around in shipping so thats probably why it didn't have any marks when you opened it up.
Very solid and good-looking.

The now light is of exceptional quality, a rarity this day and time. I look forward to seeing it on the bow of my ‘64 whaler sport once my restoration is finished. I just ordered two tie down eyes for the stern.

Boston Whaler Classic Bow Light (1958-1984), Navigation Light (Led) 316 Stainless; *Not Perko*
Store owner replied: Hi Carter, I see we emailed you back on June 16th (A Sunday when we are closed): "Hi Carter, Happy to help. Can you give me more details on it not fitting? What year is your boat? For the dimness, its possible the connection between the bulb and socket is bad, we can swap those out as this LED is extremely bright (especially compared to the old incandescent)." You then responded the same day: "Hi Samantha! Thank you for the email. As stated on your website it does not fit a Perko light. It fits the standard Boston whaler bow light. When I opened it it came with 3 sheet metal screws. I’m assuming to screw it directly into the fiberglass? The original design of the light was to use long #8 machine screws that go down into the base of the light and squeezes everything together. I had to drill the light and I made a mess of everything. On your website you need to state it does not fit the original assembly. Thank You " To which we responded again on the 16th: "Hi Carter, I see, so you mean you tried to install it on your old base. That piece does fit our original Boston Whaler designed light. We could sell you just the bottom piece and riser if you like. And send you a new socket/bulb." To which we never received another response. This light does not state anywhere in the listing that it will fit on any bases. It is a stand alone light that drills directly into the deck which is why there are wood screws in the light and not bolts. However, it does fit on the base that we carry with the hardware switched out to the appropriate bolts. BW made changes over the years to their bases before outsourcing to Perko. We are still happy to uphold our offer from the June 16th email.
